Core Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software across various versions.
  • Monitor and tune database performance to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to guarantee data integrity and availability.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including reorganizations, index rebuilds, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with developers to optimize database queries and enhance application performance.
  • Implement and enforce database security best practices to protect sensitive data.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies and industry trends.

Required Technical Skills:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in database administration with Oracle databases.
  • Expertise in Oracle database technologies across a range of versions.
  • Proficient in database installation, configuration, and upgrading.
  • Significant experience with database backup tools and methodologies.
  • Configuration and management of database replication technologies, such as Oracle DataGuard.
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata, particularly in performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of clustering techniques, such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
  • Strong understanding of database storage management, including Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Extensive experience in performance tuning using tools like Stats Pack and AWR.
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting and query optimization.
  • Experience with patching and upgrading Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with managing workloads in Jira.
  • Experience working with Oracle support processes.
  • Strong understanding of database management concepts, including normalization, indexing, and transaction management.
  • Familiarity with database security principles and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS cloud environments and managing databases in the cloud.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and tuning tools beyond Stats Pack and AWR.
  • Knowledge of additional Oracle tools or features.
  • Experience with test-driven database administration practices.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional or AWS Certifications.
  • Exposure to other cloud platforms or database systems.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices related to database management.
